Overview

Women Alert is a national campaign by Public Safety Canada focused on raising awareness and inspiring action against firearm-related violence affecting women in Canada. My task was to design and build a website and brand identity that communicates the mission of the campaign in a clear, human, and accessible way.

Branding & Logo Creation

The project started with developing a logo that reflects the strength and supportive tone of the campaign. The branding needed to feel trusted and aligned with a federal initiative, while still being warm and approachable. The approved logo set the direction for the colour palette, typography, and overall visual identity used throughout the website.

Website Structure

I planned the site so visitors could easily understand the issue, read personal stories, and find ways to take action. Key pages included:

  • Homepage – Introduces the campaign and guides users to the main sections.

  • Stories – Highlights real experiences and brings a personal voice to the issue.

  • Blog – Provides articles and updates related to firearm-related violence.

  • Resources – Offers support tools, reports, and links for individuals and communities.

  • Take Action – Outlines steps Canadians can take to support the movement.

The layout was intentionally simple to keep the content readable and the user journey intuitive.

Design & User Experience

The visual direction focused on clarity, accessibility, and consistency. Clean typography, balanced spacing, and a calm colour palette made information easy to absorb. Each page was designed to support the campaign’s message without overwhelming visitors.

Since the campaign serves people across Canada, the site includes a language switcher that lets users move between English and other languages. This feature is placed in the main navigation to keep it easy to find and use.
