Overview
The Xwéwenaqw Xwexwilmexw Cultural Reclamation Society, also known as the Whonnock Society, is dedicated to restoring the community’s connection to ancestral lands and revitalizing cultural heritage. The goal was to create a website that reflects this mission while engaging community members, donors, and partners.
The Process
The design focused on a clean structure with clear navigation for pages like Home, About, Programs, Events, Donate, and Contact. A strong homepage hero section introduced the mission, while storytelling sections highlighted the Society’s vision and history. Programs and upcoming events were presented with visuals and calls to action, and the team section added a personal touch. The design used earth tones inspired by the existing logo to respect cultural identity, and accessibility was prioritized for all visitors.
Results
The website now provides a clear and meaningful online presence for the Whonnock Society. It communicates the mission effectively, highlights events and initiatives, and makes it easy for visitors to connect, donate, or get involved. The final outcome is a respectful, engaging platform that supports the Society’s cultural and community goals.
